Armenia is one of the oldest countries in the world, with an ancient and historic cultural heritage. In the 6th century B.C., Armenians settled in the kingdom of Urartu. Over the years Armenia was conquered by Romans, Persians, Greeks, Ottoman Turks. Moreover, Armenians experienced discrimination, religious persecution, and armed attacks. However, the most horrific massacre took place on April 24, 1915 where 1.5 million Armenians were murdered. But, after everything that happened Armenians continue to live, love, create, fight for their believes, and they never give up.
Armenia was the first country to adopted Christianity as its state religion, and biblical tradition identifies that after the flood Noah's ark rested on Mountain Ararat. In addition, the first bible was translated in Armenian. The Armenian alphabet was created by Saint Mesrop Mashtots in 405 AD.
Now, Armenia is an independent country, it has its own flag, national anthem and army. Armenia has been the birthplace of many talented, worldwide known people such as, Martiros Saryan, Hovhannes Ayvazovski, Aram Khachatryan, Charles Aznavour, William Saroyan, Cher, Andrea Agassi and many more. There is so much to tell about Armenia, it has very rich history and tremendous cultural.
